• Question: I have the autorun feature disabled on my CD-Rom which program do I use to install PLT?

  Answer: setup.bat

   

• Question: I do not have a current .NET Framework installed on my system. Can I run PLT?

  Answer: No, PLT requires .NET Framework version 2. If you have version 3 installed, you will still need to install version 2 as well. Windows can support multiple versions of .NET Framework. The .NET Framework distributed package is provided on the CDROM.

   

• Question: After I installed Perpetua, I noticed that instead of displaying the Hebrew (or Greek) font, all I get is letters or numbers?

  Answer: This is our most common tech support question. Most of the time this results from running the product prior to rebooting the computer. Usually a reboot fixes the problem. Occasionally, this can happen because the fonts did not install correctly. In this case, the fonts can be installed by hand by copying the fonts from the "fonts" directory on the CD into the "Fonts" directory in your Control Panel.

   

• Question: After I installed Perpetua, I noticed that the Hebrew font has a strange block-shaped character in place of some letters?

  Answer: What happened is that you probably have the TekniaHebrew font that was distributed directly from wwww.teknia.com. This version of the font had a couple of bugs that prevented the tilde character from being used correctly, and Perpetua Language Tools does not overwrite existing fonts when installing. To correct the problem you will need to delete the old font file from your control panel font directory, then copy the new TekniaHebrew font from the Perpetua CDROM into the control panel font directory.

   

• Question: The Middle Egyptian flashcards are not displaying the hieroglyphs. How do I fix this?

  Answer: This is a known bug in Version 4.2 compile 692. Installing the patch bundle will fix this.

   

• Question: Is there an online version of the user manual?

  Answer: There is now. Click here for PDF file.

   

• Question: I am using a textbook that does not have a lesson profile. Can I modify an existing profile?

Answer: Yes, any textbook profile (including the default) can be modified. But if you do a hard reset of any database, these changes will be lost.

 

• Question: I noticed some textbook profiles have lessons with no vocabulary; for example, Chapters 1 and 3 in the Kelley profile. What gives?

Answer: Some textbooks do not assign vocabulary words in some chapters. As a result of following these lists, some lesson chapters in the profiles will not have a vocabulary list. But we retained the lesson numbering, so you don't have to do mental gymnastics to figure out which numbered chapter to reference.
